Keynote Speakers:

 

Two inspiring keynote speakers will provide an overview of what lies ahead for community managed mental health services, identifying the opportunities to seize and the pitfalls to avoid. They will reveal how services can thrive in this new environment, and provide the perfect introduction to the many conversations and presentations that will take place over the two days of the conference.

 

 

Shaun Clee (GB)

Shaun is the elected Chair of the NHS Confederations National Mental Health Network in the UK. The network has over 60 organisations as members, including NHS providers, NHS Foundation Trusts, Not for Profit providers and For Profit private sector providers. The Network is a major source of policy advice for the Government on mental health and shared the launch of the Government’s new National Mental Health Strategy earlier this year. Shaun will be providing a keynote address on the lessons that can be learnt from the introduction of individualised funding approaches in the UK.

 

Ian Dixon (AU)

Ian Dixon is an internationally recognised specialist in cross-sector partnering who works with organisations from all sectors to create, develop and sustain effective partnerships. Ian has been involved in many complex partnering assignments, including as Independent Chair of the South Australian Native Title Resolution initiative from January 2000 until February 2009 and more recently building partnering skills and capacity as part of the Federal Government’s National Partnership on Youth Attainment and Transitions and assisting Primary Healthcare Partnership Councils across Queensland. Ian has over 20 years’ experience in senior executive roles in both the public and private sectors.

Dr Ken Minkoff & Dr Christine Cline (USA):

 

Renowned international speakers on Integrated Systems and Services for People with Complex Needs. They will discuss how to design and implement a whole system of care that better matches together the needs and hopes of people with complex needs.

 

Frank Quinlan:

 

is an engaging and inspiring speaker who has proved himself to be a powerful advocate for the community managed mental health sector. He will speak on the first day of the conference about the major reforms in mental health taking place at a national level and how they will impact at the local level.

 

Jackie Crowe:

 

Ms Jackie Crowe is one of Australia’s new Mental Health Commissioners. She works with Ballarat Health Services Area Mental Health Service as a Carer Consultant and is a carer member of the National Registerof Mental Health Consumer and Carer Representatives. Ms Crowe is ensuring that family/carer perspectives critically inform and enhance decision-making in service provision, policy, and evaluation at local, state and national levels.

 

Lorna Murray:

 

is CEO of Connect, an NGO delivering Mental Health and Addictions services in Auckland and the Waikato in New Zealand. Lorna won the Glenys Baldick Award for Emerging Health Leader in 2008 in recognition of her innovative and collaborative leadership approach to mental health and addiction service delivery and policy. She will speak on the second day about structures and tools for collaboration. 

Robyn Shearar:

 

the CEO of Te Pou will present on ‘leading change to inform effective services – The New Zealand experience’. Te Pou is the National Centre of Mental Health Research, Information and Workforce Development in New Zealand.

 

Steven Nash:

 

Stephen Nash is the founding CEO of Homeground Services one of Melbourne’s largest homelessness, housing and support agencies. Stephen is leaving HomeGround after ten years and will reflect on his experience leading such projects as the Elizabeth Street Common Ground housing development and the Melbourne Street to Home project. He will then offer some thought provoking views about what is required from government and the sector to meet the challenge to end homelessness.

 

John Della Bosca:

 

The National Campaign Director for the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).  Join him at the VICSERV conference to hear about how the NDIS will revolutionise the way services are accessed and delivered as well as what this will mean for consumers and carers.
