The conference theme - Reframing Mental Health: a new state of mind – reflects the fact that community managed mental health services are on the brink of major change. The way in which services are delivered and who provides them is evolving. Workers in the field of community mental health and those they support need to be ready to embrace these changes.
Conference sub themes
Reframing Mental Health: a new state of mind will include keynote addresses,a wide range of presentations, interactive workshops, and panel discussions.The following sub themes will be addressed:
- Service improvement: it's all about innovative and fresh approaches to service delivery, partnerships and organisational development.
- Housing sector development: the Australian Government’s homelessness white paper is called The Road Home. This stream asks ‘are we there yet?’ whilst exploring innovative approaches to mental health and housing, government strategies and housing research.
- Consumer leadership: learn how consumers are leading change by providing peer support, participating in decision-making and directing and running services.
- Creativity and wellbeing: explore the role of dancing, music, visual art and healthy habits in mental health and wellbeing.
- Dual diagnosis: substance abuse and mental illness can mean double trouble. Find out how agencies are responding without doubling their workload.
