Our Resource Centre is located on Level 2, 22 Horne Street, Elsternwick and is open from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.The Centre contains resources for PDRS practitioners, service consumers, carers, and people with an interest in community managed mental health. What's New?Psychiatric Disability Services of Victoria (VICSERV), in collaboration with the Centre For Psychiatric Nursing (CPN) were involved in delivering a special PDRS event on 26 June 2007 at the Australian Education Union. The success of this workshop was highlighted by guest speaker Judi Chamberlin, who reinforced how recovery and empowerment can change the lives for people with psychiatric disability Click here for a PDF of Judi's list of recommended readings. What's in the Resource Centre collection?Areas covered by the collection are: Books, journals, journal articles, research reports, audiotapes and videos are available. The catalogue is searchable online. The Centre also contains workstations that enable members to search the catalogue, check email, surf the web, and print. Who Can Borrow?The Resource Centre is open to everyone, however, only the staff of member agencies or individual members have borrowing rights. Six items may be borrowed for up to 4 weeks. Journals are not available for loan, articles may be photocopied. Requesting MaterialsNon-members requesting copies of articles to be sent by mail or fax will be charged $10 (inc. GST) per article to cover handling, postage and photocopying. This money must be received by Psychiatric Disability Services of Victoria (VICSERV) before an article will be posted. Only the cost of photocopying is charged if the user visits us personally. Members may request up to 10 articles per month to be copied and posted. Copies of additional articles may be acquired through personal visits to the Resource Centre. To conform with the Australian Copyright Act, a copyright declaration must be completed for each article requested that will be copied by a Library Officer. Other LibrariesVictorian Mental Health LibraryStaff of Psychiatric Disability Services of Victoria (VICSERV) agencies are usually eligible to join the Royal Melbourne Hospital Health Sciences Library incorporating the Victorian Mental Health Library which provides books and a wide range of online journal resources. Most of the online journals are fulltext and available to members within or outside the library building.To investigate these services and your eligibility to use them, please go to the Victorian Mental Health Library web site. Online DocumentsThe Psychiatric Disability Services of Victoria (VICSERV) on-line library consists of a listing of full text documents on the internet. These documents include: government policy, academic or practitioner research, conference papers, stories of personal experience of the mental health system, reflections on service delivery from varying perspectives, and 'free to access' on-line journals.
