Policy Development

On behalf of our members, VICSERV actively participates in policy development, at national, state and sectoral levels, all of which govern the planning, delivery and evaluation of psychiatric disability rehabilitation and support services in Victoria.

VICSERV both initiates policy development and responds to pertinent issues affecting the sector and its operations.

VICSERV's research function involves the use of a variety of qualitative and quantitative techniques to:

  1. Build the evidence base for the PDRS and community mental health sectors
  2. Identify and showcase good practice
  3. Inform sector development initiatives
  4. Identify new and emerging trends in the mental health field.

VICSERV follows a Policy Consultation Framework in developing policy and gauging sector views.  The Framework provides guidance as to how and when VICSERV will consult with its members in the policy development process. The Policy Consultation Framework can be viewed here.
