How do I register for training?

Registration for all courses is via our Training Calendar and Registration page on the VICSERV website at www.vicserv.org.au

How many people come to the training?

Group sizes are generally limited to 20 people, this enables ample opportunities for questions and discussion during the training. A minimum number of training participants are required for scheduled training to go ahead.


Where is the training and how do I get there?

Information about the training venue location, public transport, and parking are included in every course flyer.
Training at the VICSERV office is held at Level 2, 22 Horne St, Elsternwick. A map, public transport and parking directions can be found here

Is there parking nearby?

Unfortunately all-day parking is very difficult to find. All-day parking is available at the end of Horne St, Sherbrooke Ave, at the end of Ripon Grove, or on the 'Elwood side' of Nepean Highway.
Other residential streets in the area may have all-day parking on one side of the street, and restricted parking on the other. Please inspect and obey signs to avoid infringement notices during your visit.

How can I pay for training?

During online registration, participants can choose to pay by credit card at the time of booking, or to be sent an invoice. Invoices are usually sent approximately one month prior to the training course, our payment terms are 30 days net

What is your 'member' and 'non-member' rate?

Participants are eligible for our member training rate if they work for one of our member organisations, or are an individual member of VICSERV. Please check with your manager or call us here to check if you are eligible for member rates.

Is this training going to suit me?

A description of each training course, including learning objectives, content, and the intended audience, is listed on each training flyer. To assist in professional development planning, our short courses are offered under three groupings:

  •  Foundation Skills, for new staff in their first 12 to 18 months of work in the sector
  •  Extended Practice, for more experienced staff seeking further development in areas of practice; and
  •  Special Interest, suitable for all staff with an interest in the identified areas

Will this training be held again?

Our popular courses are regularly repeated to meet our participants' needs. Our training calendar is published six months in advance to enable you to plan ahead.

Will food be provided?

Lunch is not included for most of our courses. There is always tea, coffee, fresh filtered water and biscuits available. The training room at VICSERV contains a refrigerator, microwave, and basic utensils for those that would like to bring lunch, or there are many cafes in the local area.

What if I need to change or cancel my booking?

Transfer of booking to an alternative workshop – VICSERV is happy to discuss transferring your training registration to an alternative workshop, along with any payments made, given sufficient notice.
Cancellations within 5 working days – will occur an administrative fee of 40% of the workshop cost. However, the transfer of a registration to another member of your organisation can be arranged at any time at no cost.
Non-attendance on our workshops, without prior notice – We regret that we have to charge the full invoice amount for non-attendance on the day of training if we have not received prior notice. This includes those workshops that are full- or part-subsidised by government funding, as each registration is reported and accounted for.
The VICSERV training team will endeavour to accommodate all booking amendments.
